China Airlines Flight 611 (CAL 611, CI 611, callsign Dynasty 611) was a regularly scheduled flight from Chiang Kai-shek International Airport (now Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport) in Taoyuan to Hong Kong International Airport in Hong Kong. On 25 May 2002, the Boeing 747-209B disintegrated in mid-air and crashed into the Taiwan Strait just 20 minutes after taking off, killing 225 people. The cause of the crash was improper repairs to the aircraft 22 years earlier. The accident was particularly disturbing to the public because the Taipei to Hong Kong route was and is to this day one of the most heavily travelled routes on Earth; it is so profitable that it is even referred to as the "Golden Route."

***Update*** Look on Google Earth to spot the existing abutment from the LNE bridge on the NJ side, if you go across the river it's possible to see the right of way, including the station, which has now been coverted to a car repair shop whose garage was built on the right of way. Just going through some old camcorder tapes: July 10, 2004: From Deleware Water Gap to Portland Yard along the DL&W Old Line. At some point we cross the right-of-way of the Lehigh & New England Railway although I'm not sure where but it does. We also pass over & under NS's wye-track up to its Bangor & Portland secondary (also ex-DL&W). This area used to be full of railroads; I-80 along the New Jersey side of and over the Deleware River used the old Susquehanna right-of-way before it branched off to the Northwest. The bridge that carried the Lackawanna Cut-Off still exists. And the abutments of the LNE bridge exists on the both sides of the Delaware. And obviously the Delaware-Lackawanna line to Scranton and NS's B&P secondary (both still active). I was only 12 years old when I shot this; my dad was driving and the railroad crossings are quite rough so there are some shaky parts.
