Miss Universe Allows Transgender Participants: Donald Trump Releases Statement: ENTV

The Miss Universe Organization officially allows transgender women to compete in their pageants. This comes on the heels of a controversy that began when transgender contestant Jenna Talackova was disqualified as Miss Universe Canada because she wasn't originally born a woman. In a joint statement between GLADD and the Miss Universe Organization it stated, "We are pleased to announce that after more than 2 weeks of discussions, the Miss Universe Organization is close to finalizing an official policy change that will allow women who are transgendered to participate in its beauty competitions."
