I went to go try the death grip and see whether or not the so called "issue" was still there. of course the results will be different for everyone based on their area so I can't confirm its a real "issue" but these are my results Area: 4 bars Death Grip: 2-3 Bars (2 at most) 3G Stayed active I see no issue at all but that may not be for some. AT&T version of the iPhone 4S Death Grip Antenna Gate test. The location is Flushing Queens NY. The iPhone 4S and my own AT&T iPhone 4 both have 4 out of 5 bars of service. I test (not on video) my iPhone 4 with a left handed grip on the bare phone and it immediately drops one bar of service, then slowly a second bar. I then video the same thing using the stores iPhone 4S and the signal stays rock solid at the 4 bars it started with. End result is no antenna gate death grip problem with this phone. Good news to those of you who prefer to use the bare phone.

Shows lack of antenna-gate, when iPhone 4 has good 5 bars or -54dBm and -68 dBm ( 2 examples). No loss in signal (dB) or data speed stoppage. Also shows result with Bumper on. 5 bars begins around -78dBm and goes up to -40dBm (approximately). I found that weaker signals than -80dBm ( ie 4 bars) will show antenna-gate in loss of dB ( 22dB) and stoppage of data speeds. This explains why some see antennagate and others do not.

As you can see what is happening is to lose the 3g signal and turn automatically to EDGE. Can happen only if the 3g signal is too low.
Sorry for the poor audio quality. I recently found that the 4th gen iPod touch suffers from the same problem as the iPhone 4- signal attenuation. This problem occurs when you touch the upper edge of the iPod touch. I have found that the connection will go down as much as 50%. They also are giving money back to users that have already purchase the case or bumper from them. They also made some comparisons of other smartphones such as the Blackberry 9700 (Bold) and the Samsung Omnia II. To me Apple is willing selling you a flawed product while may not happen to everyone they are saying we will sell it flawed for now and give you a case to prevent this issue from happening but you have to use this case to prevent this issue fully. Accessories should be an option not a requirement and it seems here that it's a requirement. I also find that Apple is hurting the Case manufactures for then next couple of months with this free case which seems to be a way of pushing the cost of a recall a bit off to the case companies who will lose profit and will cost apple a little but not a lot down the line when compared to a recall. and....To read the rest of this article head over to bwone.com
