The North American Qiraat-ul-Quran Competition is an annual event held at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto. The Competition was established to encourage youth to compete against each other in the categories of Qiraat and Hifz-ul Quran. By the grace of Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala this blessed event has been attended by over 2000 spectators in its previous years. With modest beginnings, the North American Qiraat-ul-Quran competition was first held in May 2006 with approximately 60 local competitors and judges. The 4th Qiraat-ul Competition expanded and grew as it allowed individuals from all over North America to compete. This year also included a Girls Competition to allow young sisters to also showcase their talent. The Girls Competition has been a regular component of this prestigious competition.

The Arizona State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (AZSBJJF) was proud to host the 1st Arizona Kids Cup of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. The competition took place at the Broadway Recreation Center in Mesa, AZ 85210. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition offered only kids (4 to 15yrs old) and Juvenile (16-17) Divisions. The tournament was limited to 180 competitors. Their second battle was in 1985 (for the title WSM 1984) in Mora in Sweden. The competition was held at a location where it was freezing and there was snow everywhere. Magnús Ver Magnússon won in 1991 and was the favourite in his homeland. Jón Páll Sigmarsson is an expert for the television this year, but he died in January 1993. Here you can see the final event, the Húsafell stone and the award ceremony. About the event: The competitors have to carry the Húsafell stone as long as they can. The Húsafell stone is 186 kg. In Iceland they say if you can carry the Húsafell stone for 12 meters, you are too strong!
