Hokkaido Fox
Hokkaido Fox presented by Jack the Lizard More images and stories are at Jack the Lizard Wonder World www.animal-dino.com In Japan there are two kinds of fox, The Hondo fox (Vulpes vulpes japonica) and The Hokkaido fox (Vulpes vulpes schrencki). Later is slightly larger and has black spot on the feet and back of the ears. Hokkaido is the second largest island in Japan. The Hokkaido fox inhabits Hokkaido and islands nearby. The Hokkaido fox is about 60~80 cm (23~31 in) in length and weighs about 4~10 kg (9~22 lb). The habitats widely range from coast to subalpine. They hunt rabbits, rodents, small birds and insects. In autumn they also eat some fruits and seeds. In early spring pups are born in the den. Basically only the mother takes care of them, but pups' older brothers or sisters help mother sometimes. The father lives alone and does not participate in parenting. In Hokkaido they are one of the most popular animals, but you must not give them food because of the parasite in their body. Parallel Worlds: Art of the Ainu of Hokkaido and Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest
June 6-28, 2009, the Portland Japanese Garden hosted a special exhibition in honor of the 50th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Portland and Sapporo, Japan. Entitled Parallel Worlds, the exhibition featured exquisitely designed traditional ceremonial robes created by Ainu artists from the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido and Native American artists of the Pacific Northwest. This groundbreaking exhibition became the first to juxtapose the textile arts of indigenous cultures on both sides of the north Pacific.

I have not seen snow for years. This time, I wish I could see those old pictures, so went to northern freezing land again. During this Lunar new years vacation, I took a fight to Japan (nearby country)again, flight time around 4 hours, and the weather is totally different, it was freezing & full of snow, that I never saw in Taiwan. I enjoyed this trip a lot with many fresh experiences. I almost forgot how snow feels. More Pics, plz c picasaweb.google.com

This video is from a very compact trip. The first half is a comedy show I did along with fellow comedian Mike who some may remember from a brief appearance in Vlog #16. It was a tough job, doing a show for about 160 drunk but amiable Australians in a Hokkaido resort (on very short notice).
