Synopsis In this report from a longer programme, Derek Cooper introduces the Moog synthesiser, an instrument that can produce a variety of noises and arrangements, both mimicking real instruments and creating new sounds, all electronically. Did you know? Developed by Dr Robert Moog, the Moog synthesiser evolved from a kit known as a Voltage-Controlled Electronic Music Module, which Moog demonstrated in prototype form in 1964. The first production models emerged in 1967, accompanied by a sample record of music composed by Walter Carlos (later Wendy Carlos, after her sex-change operation in 1972). It was Carlos's 1968 album 'Switched-On Bach' that catapulted Moog-produced music into popular culture, though examples of music made on the synthesiser had already been released by The Doors, The Monkees and Simon & Garfunkel, among others. Moog Source Analog Synthesizer (1981)

And the first Z80 microprocessor-controlled Moog with patch memory. The sound is fantastic, very deep and powerfull. I love the Sources incredible low end sound like the Moog Taurus 1. The best Taurus 1 emulation I have ever heard. In my ears better than the Taurus 3. The Source is perfect for very nice bass and lead sounds. Since the 70's, musicians have been building and customizing their own Moogs. So I wanted to reflect that sort of attachment that owners have with them, and in the process, bring the history and culture of owning a Moog into the new millenium as well.

Moog's first "inexpensive Minimoog." Released in 1975, it provided great functionality for less money. Since the analog boom, this wonderful synth has been overlooked, and in some cases decried, by most. Hopefully, this video will indicate why the Micromoog deserves more respect. MOOG SATELLITE Demo Pt. 1 vintage synthesizer 1974
The Moog Satellite is the successor of the rare Minitmoog (not Minimoog). It is built around a solid woodframe - it looks great! It's a monophonic synthesizer with presets, which can be changed (filter, modulation, LFO, envelope). The filter sounds great and has character. It's not the most flexible Moog synth, but I like the meaty, analog sounds of the Satellite, which come to life when using it with delay, phaser, flanger... I played the Moog Satellite with the Roland DEP-5 multi effects processor (for hall and delay).

To function as a one woman band, Dorit triggers a prerecorded backtrack on her laptop, adding vocals and Etherwave Pro theremin in real time.
