A demonstration of my tilting car lift. When using this lift on tarmac you will need to add a hard surface for the runners or else they will dig in. I have used some angle iron I got from a local metal supplier. You also need a drill with high torque. I'm using a dewalt DK25404K with chuck attachment. A much cheaper option would be a mixer drill such as a "Silverline 123557 600w low speed mixing drill" or "Erbauer ERB20GM 800W Mixer Drill" Often you can find used mixer drills on E bay.

The BMW designers initially planned a small vehicle with low weight and minimal aerodynamic drag properties. Following a concept phase of several months, the pooled requirements and ideas gave rise in 2005 to a vehicle based on tilting technology. In contrast to other vehicle concepts in which only the passenger cell tilts during cornering, here all the driver has to do is determine a change in direction for the appropriate tilt to follow automatically. The stand-out feature of the Simple concept is that it activates the hydraulics only in exceptional situations, for example if the vehicle threatens to become unstable during extremely slow driving, when righting the vehicle during standstill or in extreme situations such as drifting. Otherwise, Simple rides like a motorcycle and, beyond natural gravity and gyroscopic forces, requires no energy whatsoever to lean into a corner. The passenger also benefits from this tilting technology as he feels no transverse forces and, particularly during rapid changes of direction, need not compensate for any lateral movements. All that is needed to power this lightweight vehicle with a kerb weight of approx. 450 kg is a 36 kW combustion engine. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is estimated at under ten seconds and the vehicle has an excellent drag coefficient of 0.18. Using the electric motor and the combustion engine, the Simple would need just 6 kWh (equivalent to 0.7 litres of petrol) or two litres over 100 km.

Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) showed off its new concept car, the "Ecooter" this week. The vehicle seats just one and will be on display next month in Milan, Italy. Here's a sneak peak: STORY: The Ecooter's key features include a diamond-shaped four-wheel chassis system. Now this allows Ecooter to make a 360-degree turn with a radius of only 1.2 meters. The Ecooter also features an auto-tilting system that keeps it from rolling over in sharp turns. This makes it very nimble in confined areas and cities. James Wang is the Director of ITRI's Intelligent Mobility Technology Division. [James Wang, IRTI]: "IRTI wants to develop this vehicle to have clean energy in order to solve problems such as pollution, traffic congestion and energy consumption that we face today in urban societies. We hope that, this small electrical vehicle and the public transportation system together can provide a convenient, energy-efficient and traffic free transportation tool."
